Quantum Fluctuation in the Inflating Universe

چکیده
With the RFW metric ds = dt − R(t)d~x, the scale factor grows exponentially R(t) = R(0)e. We now switch to the conformally flat metric ds = R(η)(dη − d~x). Therefore, dt = R(η)dη, or equivalently, dη = ±R(t)−1dt = ±R(0)−1e−Htdt. Note that η is nothing but the size of the particle horizon, namely the comoving distance for which the light could propagate since the initial time. This differential equation is easy to integrate, and we find

Quantum Cosmology in 2 + 1 and 3 + 1 Dimensions
We study the Wheeler Dewitt equations for the wave function of the universe in 2 + 1 a,nd 3 + 1 dimensions. Perturbation methods are developed and the first few orders are explicitly calculated for the case of an inflating universe. We find that early quantum fluctuation can produce large scale inhomogeneities in the global structure of the universe at later times.

“Constants of Nature” and cosmological parameters may in fact be variables related to some slowly-varying fields. In models of eternal inflation, such fields will take different values in different parts of the universe. Here I show how one can assign probabilities to values of the “constants” measured by a typical observer. This method does not suffer from ambiguities previously discussed in t...

متن کاملBirth of the Brane Universe
Quantum cosmology of the brane universe is studied. It is shown that an inflating brane universe can be created from nothing and the wave function of the universe and the time-dependent Schrödinger equation for quantized scalar fields are the same as those obtained in the conventional 4-dimensional quantum cosmology if the bulk is exactly the Anti-de Sitter spacetime. The effect of the massive ...
متن کاملEternal inflation and the present universe
Eternally inflating universes can contain thermalized regions with different values of the cosmological parameters. In particular, the spectra of density fluctuations should be different, because of the different realizations of quantum fluctuations of the inflaton field. I discuss a general method for calculating probability distributions for such variable parameters and analyze the density fl...
